Egypt vs Nigeria Prediction & Match Preview
Egypt vs Nigeria
Date: Tuesday, 26 March 2019
Venue: Stephen Keshi Stadium (Asaba).
Nigeria host Egypt in a high-profile African friendly on Tuesday at Stephen Keshi Stadium. The visitors will be significantly weakened without their main star Mohamed Salah who is not called-up for this friendly.
The Pharaohs will feature the clash with a younger team which should particularly be expressed at the back where they will miss a host of high-quality and experienced players. Mexican coach Javier Aguirre will thus be without Ahmed El Mohamady, Ahmed Hegazi, Ahmed Fathy nd Mohamed Abdel Shafy in the defense.
Egypt won each of four matches in African Cup of Nations Qualifications after the World Cup in Russia. They bagged 15 goals in the process, four of which were scored by Liverpool’s superstar Mohamed Salah.
Nigeria vs Egypt: Head-to-head
Egypt have always been unpleasant opposition to Super Eagles.
The Pharaohs won three and drew one of past four encounters with Nigeria.
The streak includes a 1-0 victory in March 2016 in the African Cup of Nations Qualifications.
Nigeria vs Egypt: Prediction
Nigeria secured the top spot in their respective group of Cup of Nations Qualifications. They won three and drew two of five outings after the group phase exit at the World Cup in Russia. Super Eagles did produce fine displays in a 2-0 win over Iceland and a narrow 0-1 defeat to Argentina last summer in Russia.
They will feature this tie against the Pharaohs with much stronger squad featuring the Cup of Nations Qualifications top-scorer Odion Ighalo. Shanghai Shenhua striker bagged six goals in five appearances and he will no doubts be the biggest threat to Egyptian goal on Tuesday.
Gernot Rohr has a much wider range of high-quality players at the center of the park as he will count on services of Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, Wilfried Ndidi and Peter Etebo here.
Looking at squads, we feel the time has come for Nigeria to finally beat Egypt who will be significantly weakened in this particular tie.
